Cold Chain Management

Medications that need refrigeration: Gonal-F pens (pre-mixed), Menopur (after reconstitution), Cetrotide, Ovidrel (pre-filled). Ganirelix can be stored at room temperature.
How to travel with them:
- Use an insulated medication travel case designed for biologics (Frio, MedAngel, or similar)
- Include reusable gel ice packs — frozen before departure
- Never pack temperature-sensitive meds in checked luggage (cargo holds can freeze or overheat)
- Upon arrival, immediately transfer to your hotel/apartment refrigerator
- If your hotel doesn't have a fridge, ask the front desk to store medications in their kitchen cooler — or buy a cheap styrofoam cooler and ice at a local store
Colombian Security (AVSEC)
Colombian airport security follows similar rules. Medications in original packaging with a doctor's letter (in Spanish, ideally) pass through without issue. The formula médica (prescription) from your Colombian RE serves as documentation. If you're bringing U.S.-purchased medications into Colombia, have your U.S. prescription printout available.
